If I remain in France for 6 months do I have to pay to retain my number?

If I am in France solidly for 6 months, do I need to pay the £5 fee to keep my phone number for all of this time, or is this only for when you leave the country?

Yes, it will expire every 30 days so you need to pay the £5 to maintain it annually.
