Could you confirm whether your US sim works in San Francisco? I am unable to tell from the small coverage map on the website.

Yes, it should be good for coverage across the USA;

http://t-mobile-coverage.t-mobile.com/ and T-Mobile confirms there is 3G coverage there.

AT&T's site (http://www.wireless.att.com/coverageviewer/#?type=voice) confirm there is 3G and good voice coverage there.
