I want to finish my 0044 French monthly sim contract, is it possible to keep my number to use with a new supplier?

I have had an 0044 french monthly sim contract since moving to France over 4 years ago and am finally getting around to changing to a more economical contract. Is it possible to keep my number and if so how do i go about it?
